ThermoBoxx™:
The Two-piece Reefer Containers

CakeBoxx Technologies has announced a new product line of refrigerated reefer shipping containers that use the company’s trademark ‘deck and lid’ two-piece design.

The ThermoBoxx™ refrigerated container line extends CakeBoxx’s unique two-piece portfolio to temperature-controlled shipping. Designed as a time-saving, cost-effective solution for moving temperature-sensitive cargo, ThermoBoxx™ reefer containers are ideal for loads that are difficult to handle through conventional container doors due to their size, shape, or weight.

The side and top-loading capability — enabled by the removable CakeBoxx® lid — sets ThermoBoxx™ apart from standard reefer containers and provides clear advantages in speed of loading, product safety, security, and loss prevention.

ThermoBoxx™ containers are available in a range of standard and oversized dimensions, with tailored sizes available on request. They can be configured with rear cargo doors for conventional loading, or supplied without doors for customers requiring the highest levels of cargo security.

These containers were specifically developed to address the growing need for environmental control across industries such as electronics, machinery, composites, defense materials, and pharmaceuticals — products that often cannot be adequately served by conventional reefer containers. The ability to combine temperature-sensitive and general cargo in one secure unit is a unique advantage of ThermoBoxx™.

As with all CakeBoxx containers, all features can be tailored — including dimensions, capacities, fitments, and finishes — to meet specific customer requirements. For enhanced security, ThermoBoxx™ reefers can be delivered doorless, making them the only reefer containers available with the U.S. Government’s SAFETY Act designation as Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT). All CakeBoxx two-piece reefer containers are fully ISO-compliant and CSC-certified for global intermodal use.

Our new ThermoBoxx was specifically developed to support the transportation and security needs of the expanding array of temperature-sensitive products in the defense, aeronautics, composites and electronics markets. As more and more of these types of products are being produced for global markets, shippers want to take advantage of container-based shipping. It is increasingly clear that conventional rear loading refrigerated containers are not a great solution, and in many cases are marginally adequate – so we built an alternative. In some respects, we plan to fill the need for the cold chain that open-top containers offer for dry cargo.

Risk and loss prevention managers worry about damaging their extremely high value, mission critical equipment during container loading, transport, and discharge operations. Our goal is to give them less to worry about. CakeBoxx containers have long been associated with the shipment of sensitive, high value cargo and this new product line will expand this capability into the cold chain.
