What You’ll Do

• Develop mechanical designs for container-based and platform-based supply chain systems
• Build and refine 2D/3D models using PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and Windchill

Job Description:

The Supply Chain Systems and Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing engineered transport solutions that ensure cargo safety, compliance, and efficiency throughout the logistics lifecycle.

This is a cross-functional technical role blending mechanical design, logistics integration, and program execution. You’ll design the equipment and processes that move sensitive or heavy cargo, ensure technical alignment between engineering and transport partners, and drive the performance standards that protect customer payloads from damage, delay, or loss. To optimize the value of our solutions, you will conduct supply chain analysis, evaluation, and assessments for customer use cases for their product transport, operations, and transport scenarios to ensure that what we are designing seamlessly fits into the logistic plans of our customers.

You will lead the integration between engineering design, manufacturing, and logistics execution, ensuring every solution built by CakeBoxx performs flawlessly from the production floor to the delivery site.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design and Product Integration and Package Engineering

• Design, model, and validate transport platforms, containers, cradles, packaging, and fixtures for oversized, high-value, or sensitive cargo.
• Conduct FEA and load path analysis to confirm strength, stability, and securement under all handling conditions.
• Engineer tie-down systems, lifting points, and shock/vibration isolation features to meet safety and product-specific requirements.
• Lead first-article reviews and validation testing for new container or platform designs.
• Ensure all designs meet CakeBoxx quality standards, safety certifications, and customer specifications.

Supply Chain and Logistics Integration

• Engineer end-to-end logistics flow from build site to final delivery, ensuring safety and schedule adherence.
• Analyze customer product logistic plan or work to support customer in the creation of that plan to optimize container/product designs, cost effectiveness/speed of the customer’s logistics path.
• Develop routing, packaging, and loading plans that eliminate unnecessary transloads or cross-dock events.
• Author handling manuals, SOPs, and lift plans for operators and site crews.
• Assess facilities, crane access, and staging constraints to design compatible transport solutions.
• Support project managers by embedding logistics engineering early in customer programs.

Supplier, Vendor, and Carrier Coordination

• Identify, qualify, and manage fabrication and logistics partners for transport platforms, cradles, and equipment.
• Draft and manage technical scopes of work and vendor performance metrics.
• Coordinate QA inspections, dimensional checks, and acceptance criteria for suppliers and carriers.
• Lead supplier and carrier briefings to align technical requirements and risk controls.

Risk, Quality, and Compliance

• Perform FMEA and risk assessments for all transport-related operations.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ITAR/EAR, and applicable OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Lead corrective-action and root-cause investigations for logistics or handling issues.
• Implement sustainability practices such as reusable platforms, low-impact packaging, and reduced transport waste.

Data, Systems, and Performance Analytics

• Build models and dashboards tracking damage rate, on-time delivery, and cost-to-ship metrics.
• Collect and analyze data to identify recurring risks or performance bottlenecks.
• Integrate engineering and logistics data into ERP and QMS systems for full traceability.
• Support program reporting to senior leadership and customers with data-driven insights.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Engineering, Program Management, and Commercial Operations to align product development, build schedules, and logistics readiness.
• Interface directly with customers and end-users to interpret requirements and communicate technical constraints.
• Support business development teams with cost models, technical presentations, and proposal content demonstrating logistics value.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Systems Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in aerospace, heavy manufacturing, logistics engineering, or supply-chain optimization.
• Proven capability in mechanical design, complex product packaging, supply chain operations, platform or fixture engineering, and cargo movement analysis.
• Familiar with CAD tools (Creo, or Inventor) and structural validation tools (FEA, test correlation).
• Understanding of logistics routing, carrier operations, and handling standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Hands-on approach with ability to participate in field tests, inspections, and lift operations.

CakeBoxx Technologies is seeking an experienced, results-driven Program Manager to lead complex, high-value programs within the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) sector. The successful candidate will manage and execute strategic programs across defense, aerospace, and related technology markets, ensuring delivery excellence, cost control, and operational efficiency.

This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in government contracting, DFARS/FAR compliance, supply-chain management, and cross-functional program execution across engineering, manufacturing, and operations. The Program Manager will be responsible for meeting all contractual, cost, schedule, and performance objectives while maintaining disciplined communication, program control, and regulatory compliance throughout the organization. This position requires periodic travel to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, and partner locations. The ideal candidate will possess:

• Proven program management experience in defense, aerospace, and supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of aerospace and defense programs from kickoff through delivery, ensuring scope, cost, schedule, and performance goals are met.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and commercial operations.

• Oversee secure, compliant transport and storage systems supporting complex A&D supply chains.
• Track milestones and budgets, identify risks early, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time, on-spec delivery.
• Support proposal development, Statements of Work (SOWs), cost estimates, and customer presentations that demonstrate CakeBoxx’s technical and operational value.
• Manage internal resources and external vendors for performance, compliance, and delivery quality.
• Maintain organized program documentation and provide executive briefings and progress reports.
• Address technical and operational challenges in dynamic environments while maintaining compliance and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive program management experience within the aerospace and defense industry. Experienced and comfortable interacting with leading Tier 1 aerospace and defense companies.
• Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification preferred.
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Proven success managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs involving engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain elements.
• Experience with DoD acquisition processes and federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS).
• Demonstrated experience managing direct U.S. Government contracts and subcontracts with major defense prime contractors.
• Experience with aerospace and defense logistics and transportation systems and operations
• Familiarity with airworthiness certification documentation and processes.
• Background in aerospace structures programs, including knowledge of structural-analysis tools such as finite-element analysis (FEA) and CFD and thermal analysis,
• Ability to evaluate engineering issues, contribute to design reviews, and translate technical requirements into actionable program plans.
• Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, government contracting practices, ITAR, and export-control regulations.
• Proficiency with program-management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or equivalent.
• Supporting programs or projects at a client facility (like a DoD base, defense prime site, or manufacturing partner).
• Participating in design reviews, inspections, or integration/testing activities on-site.
• Strong English communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical and subject-matter information.

Desired Experience:

• 10 or more years of experience in the defense or aerospace industry in areas such as new product development, supply chain and logistics, program management, manufacturing, operations research, or product rollout and fielding (IOC/FOC).
• 3–5 years leading product-delivery programs within a major defense, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing organization.
• Experience managing or coordinating manufacturing activities involving metal fabrication, assembly, and quality assurance, preferably within an ISO 9001 or AS9100-certified environment.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing methods, supply chain operations, and quality-control processes.
